Konark Sun TempleFamous for its magnificent architecture and sculptural excellence, ‘Konark Sun Temple’ is a 13th century temple. This temple is also known as ‘Black Pagoda’. The temple is marvel of Indian temple architecture and is listed in UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built around AD 1250, by Narasimhadeva I, the famous King of Eastern Ganga Dynasty. Konark Sun Temple, dedicated to Sun God, is made in shape of gigantic chariot carried by seven horses, with 24 artistically carved stone wheels. About Konark, the famous poet, Rabindranath Tagore has remarked, “Here the language of stone surpasses the language of man”. Undoubtedly, Konark leaves everyone spellbound and speechless, with its marvelous architecture and stunning beauty.
Konark Beach (Chandrabagha Beach)For those, who love serenity of sea and enjoy watching sunrise and sunset walking along the sea shore, Konark Beach (also known as Chandrabagha Beach) is one of the perfect places to visit. Located at just 3km distance from Sun temple of Konark, this beach is much popular among all the beach lovers and is the most visited tourist spot in Konark. Seeing fishermen with their fleet catching fish is another interesting experience of this beach. Magh Saptami Mela (Chandrabhaga Mela) of Konark is held annually on Konark Beach when this beach illuminates with colorful lights and people from across the region visit to take dip in the water.
Konark Archaeological MuseumEstablished in 1968 by Archaeological Survey of India, the Museum of Konark is located near Sun Temple in north direction. The museum of Archaeology houses several rare sculptures and antiques. It comprises four galleries showcasing around 260 sculptures and architectural pieces that were fallen from Sun Temple and found during clearance work of the temple vicinity. Konark Archaeological Museum is must visit place in Konark for all the history lovers and the best way to explore rich heritage of Orissan architecture.

Ramchandi TempleRamchandi Temple is another popular ancient temple situated in southwest direction of the Konark Sun Temple. There are several myths and opinions over presiding deity of this temple. As per some beliefs it is believed to be named after Goddess Ramchandi, its presiding deity and the goddess of this Kshetra(Land). Thus, it is popularly known as Ramchandi Temple and Today it is one of the most popular religious places in Konark.
Konark MathaKonark Matha is a monastery (or math) located on the southern side of the Konark Sun temple. This math is dedicated to the Nirankar Brahma and principles of Buddhism are followed here religiously. Well, locals address it as the Ashram of Samba, son of Lord Krishna. It is believed that Samba, cursed with leprosy by Lord Krishna, had visited this place and worshiped Sun God who cured hi from his ailment.
PipliPipli is a small village widely famous for its unique appliqué work and beautiful handicrafts. Pipli is situated approx. 23km far from Konark city. Applique work of Pipli is most popular among traditional handicrafts of Odisha. While visiting Puri, one can come across a number of local shops selling beautiful appliqué work products.
KurumaKuruma, known for its Buddhist architectural heritage, is a small village situated about 8km away from Konark. This village is much famous among archaeologists and tourists interested in archaeology and historical monuments and sites.
ChaurasiChaurasi is situated 14km away from Kakatapur on the way to Konark. This place is known for revered shrines of Amareswara, Laximinarayana and Barahi. Chaurasi is majorly famous for shrine of Barahi deity who belongs to 9th century A.D. Barahi is known for being the Mother of Goddess with face of boar and pot bellied, holding a fish in one hand and a cup in the other one. It is said that Barahi is mainly worshipped as per tantric practices.
AshtarangaLocated 55 km far from Konark, Ashtaranga is famous for its splendid sunsets. A magnificent panoramic view on a multicolored horizon during sunset at Ashtaranga simply leaves one amused. This place is main centre for fishing and salt production as well as one of the must visit scenic places around Konark.
